The Global Consortium of Innovation and Engineering in Medicine (GCIEM) is dedicated to advancing the transformation of healthcare through international collaboration, integrating medicine, engineering, and innovation.
Since its founding in 2024, the Consortium has brought together more than 30 leading medical and engineering schools from 19 countries, establishing itself as a vital international platform for advancing engineering medicine education and healthcare technology innovation.

[2026 Global Summit in Taiwan] Gathering Global Leaders in Engineering Medicine Face-to-Face Exchange of Innovation and Expertise
The inaugural Global Summit was held in 2025 at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), USA. Building on the momentum of this cross-disciplinary collaboration between medicine and engineering, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) has successfully secured the hosting of the 2nd GCIEM Global Summit in Taiwan in 2026.
Key highlights of this Global Summit include:
Global Engineering Medicine Leadership Dialogue: Bringing together experts from industry, government, academia, and research in the fields of medical innovation and medical engineering to collaboratively explore the application of Engineering Medicine and AI in addressing medical challenges and improving patient outcomes.
Advancing New Directions in Medical Education: Top medical faculty and students from around the world will convene in Taiwan to jointly discuss how to cultivate cross-disciplinary medical professionals with both clinical and engineering competencies, addressing the global challenges of an aging population and healthcare workforce shortages.
