Professor Albert C. Yang currently serves as Chair of the School of Medicine and Director of the Digital Medicine and Smart Healthcare Research Center at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, and as Deputy Director of the Medical AI Development Center at Taipei Veterans General Hospital. He is a board-certified psychiatrist whose work bridges clinical neuropsychiatry, computational neuroscience, statistical physics, and artificial intelligence. With more than 20 years of experience in brain research, Professor Yang has dedicated to advancing quantitative approaches to understanding brain function and mental illness.

Research & Clinical Excellence

Professor Yang’s research focuses on AI-enabled brain imaging and precision brain stimulation for psychiatry. He developed explainable deep-learning methods for brain MRI analysis and translated them into BrainProbe, a cloud-based platform that automatically identifies subtle brain abnormalities. In parallel, he has advanced Temporal Interference Brain Stimulation (TIBS), a novel non-invasive deep brain stimulation approach targeting deep structures such as the hippocampus and insula, bridging imaging-based biomarkers with personalized neuromodulation for translational psychiatry and clinical application.

Academic Impact & Leadership

Recognized among the Stanford/Elsevier top 2% scientists, Professor Yang has established extensive body of peer-reviewed scholarship and a current H-index of 57. He also serves as Associate Editor of npj Digital Medicine. As an AI visionary, he is the principal investigator of major NSTC-funded interdisciplinary programs. As an educator, he is committed to cultivating the next generation of physician-innovators, bridging clinical medicine, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence. Through his leadership and research, Professor Yang continues to advance precision psychiatry and accelerate the integration of AI into modern clinical care.
